We are excited to share with you some of what the critics are saying about Shadow and Light’s inaugural production of Two by Pinter.

From Michael Upchurch of the Seattle Times

The last time I heard Betrayal was being produced yet again in Seattle, I felt like screaming. There are so many other Harold Pinter plays — when would we get to see them? The answer: Now, thanks to Shadow and Light Theatre. This all-Pinter company, the brainchild of actors Suzanne Bouchard and Frank Corrado and director Victor Pappas, is off to a brilliant start with A Kind of Alaska (inspired by Oliver Sacks’ Awakenings) and Ashes to Ashes (in which a couple’s game-playing becomes something far more tender and unsettling). This double-bill is a dazzler. Through Feb. 7, ACT Theatre, 700 Union St., Seattle; $20 (206-292-7676 or www.shadowandlighttheatre.org).

From Misha Berson of  the Seattle Times

Among the Seattle devotees of Pinter are prime players Suzanne Bouchard, Frank Corrado and Kimberly King, who with astute director Victor Pappas are presenting Two by Pinter, a pair of compressed, ruminative one-acts from the 1980’s and 1990’s: A Kind of Alaska and Ashes to Ashes….

The work here is also superb all-around: acting dagger-sharp, direction by Pappas spot-on, and the design work of Robert Dahlstrom and others, microcosmic.”

From Jerry Kraft of Seattle Actor.com

Pinter is a profoundly important playwright and it is a genuine gift to Seattle that a group of distinquished artist have founded a new theatre company, the Shadow and Light Theatre, specifically to produce his work. Their first production of a pair of substantial on-acts, Ashes to Ashes and A Kind of Alaska is an impressive accomplishment and an exciting promise of the contribution they can make….

Shadow and Light is a theatrical gift to Seattle and they deserve the enthusiastic support of an audience interested in dramatic writing on the highest, most challenging level, performed by professional artists of enormous sensitivity, insight and accomplishment.
